The Joys of SKO – Part 2

No SKO is ever operated without some kind of theme. And it’s always some kind of theme tied to speed. Here’s some mock themes:  

  • Launch Your Rocket to President’s Club
  • Go Faster than a Speeding Bullet
  • Run Like a Cheetah

There has to be a theme, I suppose, to motivate the sales team to close deals. Though my sarcasm meter goes up along with my fellow SE buddies as we joke:

What’s our goal this year? To blow away our quota.

Ok, so what was our goal last year? To blow away our quota.

And what’s going to be the goal next year? To blow away our quota

… and the year after that? To blow away our quota

I wonder if an NFL coach go into the preseason thinking, “We need something to motivate the guys, a Super Bowl ring is not enough.”

BLOW AWAY QUOTA. That should be the theme every year.  I mean, isn’t your W2 all the motivation you need? Accelerators don’t motivate sales reps???
